RISE-A SESSION ON LEADERSHIP AND GOAL SETTING
The Association Inauguration Programme of the Research and Postgraduate Department of Chemistry, MES Kalladi College, Mannarkkad (Autonomous), was successfully conducted on 10 February 2026 at 10:30 AM in Ambedkar Hall. The programme marked the formal commencement of the department’s academic and co-curricular activities for the year, aiming to foster scientific engagement, leadership development, and holistic growth among students. The session was presided over by Dr. Mohammed Musthafa T.N., Head of the Department of Chemistry, who highlighted the significance of departmental associations in promoting collaborative learning, critical thinking, and research-oriented activities. He emphasized that such platforms provide students with opportunities to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, thereby enhancing their academic and professional competencies. The programme was inaugurated in the esteemed presence of the Principal, Dr. P.M. Jasmine, whose support and encouragement continue to strengthen the academic initiatives of the department. The Chief Guest, Mr. C.P. Vijayan, JCI Zone Trainer, delivered an engaging and insightful session titled “RISE – A Session on Leadership and Goal Setting.” The session focused on the scientific and systematic approaches to personal development, including goal-setting strategies, time management, decision-making skills, and leadership qualities. The speaker emphasized the importance of structured planning, self-assessment, and adaptability in achieving both academic and career objectives. Through interactive discussions and real-life examples, the session motivated students to adopt a proactive mindset and cultivate essential soft skills required in today’s competitive environment. Dr. Sreenivasan offered felicitations, appreciating the initiative taken by the department in organizing such a value-added programme. He noted that leadership and communication skills are integral components of scientific careers and encouraged students to actively participate in similar developmental activities. Saeed, Joint Secretary of the College Union, also extended his wishes and acknowledged the role of student associations in nurturing talent and promoting teamwork. The programme witnessed active participation from undergraduate and postgraduate students, who benefitted from the interdisciplinary perspective of the session.
