"Indian Stock Market & Financial Instruments – Concepts, Charts & Case Studies"

This skill development programme is organized for students to help them understand the fundamentals of financial markets and the instruments used in the stock market through practical experience

The Postgraduate and Research Department of Economics, MES Kalladi College, Mannarkkad, organized a Skill Development Programme titled "Indian Stock Market & Financial Instruments – Concepts, Charts & Case Studies" on Friday, 22nd August 2025 at 10:30 AM. The session was held in the college Computer Lab (ICT LAB-2) and aimed to provide students with practical knowledge and analytical insights into the Indian stock market and related financial instruments. The programme was formally inaugurated by the Principal, Dr. C. Rajesh, who emphasized the importance of financial literacy and skill-based learning in the current economic scenario. Mr. Ramadas M., Head of the Department of Economics, delivered the welcome address, highlighting the objectives of the session and the significance of integrating academic knowledge with real-world financial practices. The resource person for the session was Mr. Abdul Naser U., Assistant Professor, Department of History, MES Mampad College (Autonomous). With his practical approach, Mr. Naser offered an engaging and insightful presentation that covered:The structure and functioning of the Indian stock market,Key financial instruments including equities, bonds, mutual funds, and derivatives,Techniques for interpreting stock market charts,Real-life case studies and market scenarios,Practical demonstration on navigating financial data platforms and charting tools The interactive session allowed students to clarify doubts and engage in discussions, making the learning experience dynamic and enriching. Final year BA Economics and MA Economics students actively participated in the programme and benefitted from the resource person’s expertise. The session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the programme coordinator, Dr. Nasiya V. K, who expressed gratitude to the resource person, dignitaries, faculty, and students for their participation and support in making the event successful.
